THE ICA PROJECT

In October 2024, I was awarded this specially commissioned portrait and interview series of individuals, all with a connection to the Ipswich Caribbean Association. The club was a mainstay and fixture for many in the local community, not just those from the Caribbean community. Through this project, I aimed to capture the diverse stories and experiences of those who contributed to the association's vibrancy.

For over 30 years, the ICA was an important social and cultural hub for the town. It functioned as a space for music, education, martial arts, food and conversation until its closure in 2010. This project celebrates some of the individuals, stories and archival materials that document the life and times of the building through the eyes of the people who attended and contributed to its activities.
